The CW's Official Description (Posted 3/31/11): DC COMICS CHARACTER BOOSTER GOLD ARRIVES FROM THE FUTURE; THE BLUE BEETLE IS BORN! — After everything that happened with the VRA, Lois (Erica Durance) tells Clark (Tom Welling) it’s best to make “Clark Kent” forgettable and awkward so people don’t suspect he’s The Blur.  However, the two are stunned when a fame-hungry superhero from the future, Booster Gold (guest star Eric Martsolf, “Days of Our Lives”), sweeps into town and begins making saves and posing for press ops, completely winning over the city of Metropolis.  Booster begins his campaign to take The Blur’s place as the “World’s Greatest Superhero” and tries to charm Lois into writing a story about him, but she’s not having his antics and begins her own campaign for The Blur.  During one of Booster’s saves, an alien weapon in the form of a scarab falls from a truck and fuses itself to a boy named Jaime Reyes (guest star Jaren Brandt Bartlett), turning him into the Blue Beetle.  Unfortunately, Jaime is unable to control the suit and Blue Beetle starts attacking Metropolis.

UPDATED 3/28/11: Geoff Johns did an exclusive interview with TV Guide that revealed the picture to your right. Here are some highlights of what he had to say:
 - Like the comics, Booster is a "glory-seeking showboat" from the future. "The episode takes place in Booster's very early stages where he's at his conceited best, where he believes he can do whatever he wants. He's gonna stay for the photo op and bask in the glory of his heroic efforts," Johns says. This is completely the opposite of Clark's usual approach.
 - "The one thing Booster does prove to Clark is that people want to look up to this guy," Johns says, though Booster's methods are a little suspicious. "This guy always shows up at the last second to make a dramatic rescue, which is really suspect,"he teases.
 - "Booster" will show Jaime Reyes' Blue Beetle origin story, and when we first see him, the armor will be bulkier than what it will eventually become. "Ultimately he'll gain more control over the scarab and it will become more friendly looking," Johns says.
 - Clark may "embrace the marketability" of Superman and see "what he could potentially be."

UPDATED 1/13/11: We're hearing that one story beat of "Booster" might involve Clark learning how to be a little more "mild-mannered" when he's not being Super.

UPDATED 12/24/10: "I literally just finished the script before Christmas," Johns revealed in an interview at the Comic Book Resources website.
 - He confirmed that it's the Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle that will be teaming up with Booster Gold. "We introduced [this version of the character] back during Infinite Crisis. I always like the chemistry between him and Booster, so when I was going to do this episode, I wanted to do those two together and I think the story that we came up works really well. It’s very Booster 1.0, meaning he’s in the early stages of his career as a hero -- and is pretty self-serving."
 - As for what else there is to expect from the episode, Johns says we'll see Blue Beetle's origin, Booster's first meeting with Clark and Lois, and "maybe a cameo by someone from Kord Industries."

UPDATED 12/3/10: Geoff Johns has confirmed on Twitter that he is writing episode #17 of the season and the title of the episode is "Booster."

UPDATED 10/25/10: Geoff Johns' episode will run during the "last third" of the season.

UPDATED 10/8/10: This episode will feature Blue Beetle and Booster Gold.
 Geoff Johns revealed at the New York Comic Con that Clark will notice the Legion ring on Booster Gold's finger, and asks if Booster is a Legionnaire. "No, but they're really good friends of mine," Booster tells him.
 - Sadly, Brainiac 5 (in "Homecoming") and Booster Gold seem to be the only Legion-related presences scheduled for Season 10.

sì, però: per chi aspetta i sub mettete sotto spoiler cosucce come questa, grazie!

io direi che decisamente si sono impegnati pe dare una buona stagione finale a una serie che ha avuto nella coerenza narrativa il suo maggior punto debole (soprattutto gli ultimi anni). invece in questa decima stagione sembrano aver deciso per un percorso e lo mantengono abbastanza (oddio nei limiti, eh per esempio Clark ha volato con Lois nel fienile della fattoria Kent in uno dei primi episodi di questa stagione e poi han fatto finta di niente ).

in particolare questo episodio era abbastanza divertente, Booster Gold più vicino ai fumetti di tante altre versioni smallvilliane (io non ricordavo che portasse un anello della Legione ma può essere una mia amnesia). l'attore, anche se è un mascellone fisso, è perfetto fisicamente e come arroganza nei modi.
su Blue Beetle invece siamo alla libera interpretazione, mischiando insieme nomi e situazioni dei fumetti. non conosco bene Blue Beetle (ne avrò letto 3 storie da solo e alcune in compagnia di altri) ma, a cominciare dall'aspetto, non aspettatevi di ritrovare molto di quello presentato in questo episodio nei fumetti.

curiosità: lo Steve Lombard citato (quello di cui Lois prende il posto) è un personaggio dei fumetti, che nella realtà fumettistica lavora nella redazione del Planet come, se non erro, giornalista sportivo.
